Pianist Charles Richard-Hamelin recently won the second prize at the Montreal International Music Competition and the third prize and special award for the best performance of a Beethoven sonata at the Seoul International Music Competition in South Korea. Grand laureate of the 2011 Prix d’Europe, Charles is now one of today’s most promising young Canadian pianists. He also obtained the first prize at the Toronto Symphony Orchestra National Piano Competition and second prizes at the OSM and Stepping Stone competitions.

Cellist Chloé Dominguez completed her doctorate studies at McGill University where she now teaches. An accomplished musician in chamber and contemporary repertoire, the extremely high calibre of her performances led her to win the largest privately funded music scholarship in Canada, the Schulich School of Music’s Golden Violin Award, as well as the Canada Council for the Arts’ Musical Instrument Bank Competition.

The Trio would like to thank pianist Marie Fabi and cellist Carole Sirois which collaborated to the success of the Trio in the last 18 months. For personal reasons, they have both decided to follow different paths. Along with the local concert series and the tours in British Colombia and Quebec, the latest CD release of the Trio entitled “Au Jardin du romantisme français” is certainly one of the high points of the Trio’s recent history.

Ensemble in residence at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, Trio Hochelaga is faithfully supported since several years by the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, the Conseil des arts de Montréal and the Canada Council for the Arts. The Trio is represented by Agence Station bleue.

Trio Hochelaga has been part of Quebec’s musical landscape since nearly 15 years. Proud of its past and resolutely turned towards the future, the Trio is delighted to announce the arrival of cellist Chloé Dominguez and pianist Charles Richard-Hamelin as the new partners of seasoned violinist Anne Robert. All coming from different generations of musicians, the Montreal-based ensemble now juxtaposes youth and experience in order to bring a fresh and unique look into the piano trio repertoire.

Violinist Anne Robert is a founding member of Trio Hochelaga and manages the artistic direction of the ensemble since the year 2000. An experienced chamber musician and highly sought-after pedagogue, she is now eager to communicate her passion with the young and talented musicians that newly form the Trio along with her.
