She spent much of the following summer at Virginia Tech. University, Virginia, U.S.A. where she attended the prestigious “International Vocal Arts Institute” during which she was chosen to headline the academy’s gala concert with Metropolitan Opera’s own Mario Chang (Tenor) conducted by the Met’s Maestro Paul Nadler.
Recently, New-Brunswick audiences have heard Miss Léger perform Handel’s Messiah with Symphony New-Brunswick; she was featured as the first soloist in a performance of Richard Gibson’s oratorio Poême du mois de juillet as a part of a concert honoring the 50th anniversary of the Université de Moncton and most recently, she was the featured soprano soloist in Fauré’s Requiem in conjunction with the Bathurst Chamber Music Festival in May.
Praised internationally for her song interpretation, Acadian soprano Carol Léger continues to make an impression both in recital and opera. The Rutland Herald & Times of Vermont calls her performance “Powerful and riveting” and notes that she “…understood the power of art song”. Montreal’s La Presse describes Léger as a “True vocal and dramatic talent”.
Miss Léger has also built an impressive opera repertoire, with roles such as Blanche in Poulenc’s Dialogues des Carmélites, Mélisande in Debussy’s Pelléas et Mélisande, Cleopatra in Handel’s Giulio Cesare in Egitto, and Lazuli in Chabrier’s L’étoile. In February 2014, Miss Léger made her debut in a lead role on the professional stage to much acclaim with Opera daCamera in Montréal, where she performed the title role in Jules Massenet’s Cendrillon.

the University of Ottawa (Carmen, Le Nozze di Figaro). Recent London performances include appearances at the Barbican Hall, Wigmore Hall, St Martins in the Fields, the Purcell Room, St James Church Picadilly, St James Theatre and LSO St Lukes. She is the 2013 recipient of the Accompanist Prize at the Somerset Song Prize and was a finalist in the 2014 Maureen Lehane Vocal Competition, held at Wigmore Hall. While she was completing her studies, Juliane held the position of studio pianist for Laura Sarti and Yvonne Kenny. She has also often played in classes led by Sarah Walker and contemporary music specialist Jane Manning. She now works as staff accompanist at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
Currently based in London (England), New Brunswick native Juliane Gallant holds a Masters of Performance from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where she studied piano accompaniment with Pamela Lidiard. She also received diplomas from the Conservatoire de musique et d’art dramatique de Montréal, the University of Ottawa and the Université de Moncton. She studied song accompaniment with Dalton Baldwin at the Nice Summer Music Academy, with Roger Vignoles at the Oxford Lieder Festival, as well as with Olivier Godin at the Orford Arts Center. Additionally, she attended the Franz-Schubert-Institut in Baden-bei-Wien, Austria, where she studied Lied with many singers and pianists, including Christa Ludwig, Julius Drake and Elly Ameling.
Juliane has also worked as repetiteur at the Lyric Opera Studio Weimar (Die Zauberflöte), l’Université de Moncton (The Turn of the Screw, Cosi fan tutte) and
